A little background on Gillingham:
Gillingham is the most Northerly town in Dorset. The majority fo the town's architecture is Tudor with buildings being constructed later, in the 19th and 20th centuries. The town had a Royal Hunting Lodge which was used by Kings Henry I, Henry II, John and Henry III, it was later destroyed by Edward III after it fell into disrepair. As Gillingham has expanded, the neighbouring hamlets of Peacemarsh, Bay, and Wyke have become part of the town.
